The Genesis of Recovery—The History of Alcoholics Anonymous

Addiction has troubled individuals and families for centuries. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) has helped many to recover and live with sobriety. You may be surprised to learn that AA’s origin and basic principles are based on the Bible and Christian beliefs.

You are invited to attend a video presentation and discussion on the “Genesis of Recovery—the History of Alcoholics Anonymous.” Gary Agnew, M.S. LADC, will explain the history of AA, including how the founding fathers built a 12 step program based on Christian teachings that continues to support many folks on the path to recovery and fellowship today.

Gary has worked in the substance abuse field for more than 25 years. He has been a member of the AA fellowship for 43 years. He is the author of three books related to recovery: “A Spiritual Journaling Guide to Recovery,” “Watch What HE DOES With This,” and “The Power of Twelve Prayers.”

Whether you are in recovery, know someone in recovery, or just want to learn more about the spiritual roots of AA, please join us on Sunday, April 6th at 3:00 pm at Church of the Holy Family for some interesting history and discussion.
